Before
each performance, our "drill sergeant" has the task of trying to assemble
us into single file, ready to enter the stage. If all goes to
plan, we end up arranged on stage in neat rows, left to right ... first
tenors, second tenors, baritones and basses. The transition from
single file to the ranks you see on stage is rather like shuffling the
letters in an anagram.
